Volunteer of the Quarter - 2nd Quarter 2017
Caryl Meeks
In response to recommendations made in recognition for the outstanding performance in the course of her duties, the Carrollton Police Department Meritorious Awards Board has selected Caryl Meeks as the Volunteer of the Quarter for the second quarter 2017. This nomination was submitted by Ron Chartier.
Caryl has been part of the Fund-Raising Committee and has been a key contributor in the Committee's success. Many ideas and thoughts on ways to raise money have come from Caryl and her personal commitment to the overall success of the committee is evident at every meeting. We couldn't have been as successful as we have been without her thoughts and input. Caryl continues her involvement by assisting at fund raisers. On the 3rd Friday of the month you can just about bet that she will be there to assist in the fundraising at Chicken Express. Her "Meet and greet" skills with the customers always adds to the success we have at this location. She interacts with the employees as well as the customers to make it a fun but profitable day.
Caryl has taken on one of the most challenging volunteer jobs and that deals with the Quarterly newsletter. She has made it a personal challenge to meet the deadline for all articles that need to be in the newsletter. She wants the newsletter out on time and consistently does exactly that. She may "BULLDOG" you if your article isn't in but it's because she does care dearly for the content and especially pictures that portray what the CCPAAA is and what we do. She is a great promoter of our group and her passion for a great newsletter shows.
If there is a special event somewhere, Caryl will usually be there. Interaction is important to her but remember to stand back as Caryl talks with her "Hands" (That is said in jest but is true). A true New Yorker...now seeing the ways of Texas, she has even changed her name to Bubbette to meet the Texas culture. In short, Caryl came from the class of 51 and has been involved in many different activities and continues to serve as a great Ambassador to the CCPAAA and the Carrollton Police Department. We are honored to have her.
Judy Lyle, CCPAAA President stated:
Caryl is one of the most dynamic and personable people I have had the pleasure of working with. She has a natural curiosity about people and events going on not only in Carrollton, but wherever she may be. When we asked for help with our quarterly newsletter, Caryl stepped up and took on the task and our newsletter has become truly awesome. The articles are well thought out and easy to follow. Caryl is not afraid to approach anyone she can find and ask to contribute an article to our newsletter which has led to some very interesting stories. Don’t worry, if you haven’t been approached yet, eventually she will find you!
Her energy keeps her going and she has a true passion for getting things done and for helping anyone that needs it. I value her input and I know her contribution to our fundraising committee and our newsletter has helped make both of them successful.
Please join me in recognizing Caryl Meeks as the Carrollton Police Department, Volunteer of the Quarter, for the second quarter, 2017.
