CCPAAA History

In 1988 the Carrollton Police Department's Crime Prevention Unit established the Carrollton Citizen Police Academy, offering an eight-week training program. The 1992 Academy’s graduates organized and petitioned the Department to be permitted to begin patrols and in 1997, permission was granted. Since then, the volunteers have come a long way from driving their own vehicles, providing their own gasoline and communicating with Dispatch via their personal cell phones.

Citizen Police Academy

Volunteers are each assigned individual patrol ID numbers and badges that are registered with the City and with 911 Dispatch. Our volunteers go “in-service” with dispatch just as our police officers do, allowing our volunteers and 911 Dispatch to work together as the members patrol the city.

Non-Profit

Carrollton Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association is a Texas non-profit corporation and has IRS 501(c)3 status.

CCPAAA
